Fifteen thousand submissions read as an editor will change how you see a manuscript's first ten pages. I work with a small number of writers at a time.
Manuscript consultation & developmental editing
Novels and short fiction. I have done developmental and beta editing for published novels, and I bring an editor's triage eye — structure, voice, and the moment a reader decides whether to keep going — to every manuscript I take on.
Workshops & teaching
I teach The Editor's Eye: What 15,000 Submissions Taught Me About Getting Read — a workshop on openings, submissions, and how editors actually read (Kalamazoo Book Arts Center, February 16, 2027). I am available for guest teaching, talks, and reading events.
